Games I’ve Been Cuddling Up to With My Squishy Pillows This Cozy Autumn

Nintendo Switch is my console of choice. Can’t you tell?

Hello again!

Anyone can game, and I’m here for the games you can curl up on the couch with a giant fluffy blanket and play all day. Here are some games I’m currently playing this fall:

Cats Organized Neatly

My fiancé showed me this game and then I got hooked on it. Cats Organized Neatly is a puzzle game made up of different shapes of cats. I don’t play many of this type of game so it’s been a fun change of pace to throw in-between work. The puzzles range from easy solutions, to ridiculously complicated ones in the span of 2-3 puzzles, there is no linear projection of difficulty. However, that might be just me sometimes having low brain power when I try to solve these puzzles after work.

Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

We’re FINALLY playing Zelda in a Zelda game. Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom follows Zelda as she navigates the world without the hero against rifts that are plaguing Hyrule. This cute art style brought back from the remake of Link’s Awakening is so fun. They also made the game large so it doesn’t feel like a small spinoff, but an actual game!

So far in this game, I love how it’s not just hacking and slashing like previous games. Because you are Zelda, you are using more brains and creating echoes to solve puzzles and navigate through dungeons. Yes, (spoiler alert) she does have the option to use Link’s weapons and use melee attacks, but it’s very limited to how much you can use it.

Spiritfarer

I started playing Spiritfarer last year and I’ve been slowly progressing in this game. This low-maintenance game is compelling in its storytelling as you play Stella who takes over the boat-farer Charon’s job collecting and gathering spirits to cross over. You build your boat to house these passengers, cook, grow your gardens to make your meals, crush your metals to create ingots to use as materials to build, etc.

You will cry when playing this game, the stories are emotional. Each spirit comes with its storyline, learning more about their life and what their last moments were like before you take them to the Everdoor to pass on into the afterlife. This game is definitely for those who wish for more of the storytelling aspect in gaming, but have the tissues nearby.

Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical

What if, your game was a musical? Whelp, Stray Gods is your cup of tea. This role-playing adventure game has you singing your way to solve the mystery of the last muses’ death. Also, the lovable Laura Bailey as the main heroine singing? What else is there to make you play this game?! I love how laid back this game can be, no crazy action mechanicals you need to learn to progress. Just more theatre you can cuddle up in your cozy nook and just enjoy the show while picking out what happens next.

I know there are a ton more cozy games out there that people will be playing *cough cough Animal Crossing, cough cough Stardew Valley*. I would love some recommendations from you on what I should add to my list of games to play. Hope you are having a lovely cozy autumn!
